Are Persian rugs handmade?

Yes all of our rugs, wether they’re Persian, Indian, Afgha, Pakistan or Turkish they’re all handmade. Whilst you there re machine made Persian rugs we don’t personally stock them.

Are they made with natural dyes?

All of our rugs are made with natural dyes.

What are Persian rugs made from?

The majority of Persian rugs are made from Wool on a cotton base, but you can find Persian rugs woven using the following materials;

• Wool on Wool

• Wool on Cotton

• Silk on Cotton

• Silk on Silk

What are Kelims?

Kelims are a flat weave floor covering, like rugs they are hand woven and use natural dyes, but they don’t have a pile.

How often should my rug be professionally cleaned?

We typically recommend professionally cleaning your Persian & Oriental rugs every 5-10 years depending on the level of traffic in your home. The higher the traffic level the sooner they will need to be cleaned.

Do you buy rugs?

Yes we do buy rugs, if you have a Persian or Oriental rug that you’re interested in selling please send pictures of the rug a long with the size to info@bakhtiyar.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
