At Bakhtiyar, sustainability is not a trend - it is a legacy

Sustainability is woven into every thread of our work. Rooted in the centuries-old tradition of Persian rug craftsmanship, we are committed to preserving both the artistry and the longevity that define these exceptional pieces. We believe that true sustainability lies in enduring quality over disposability. By offering handwoven Persian rugs designed to last for generations—and by expertly repairing and conserving antique and vintage pieces—we extend the lifecycle of every rug, reducing waste and honouring the resources and skills behind each creation.

Our approach champions circularity: restoring rather than replacing, preserving rather than discarding. Each rug we care for is not only a product, but a cultural artefact with a story worth sustaining. We are dedicated to supporting traditional weaving communities, promoting ethical sourcing, and safeguarding artisanal knowledge for future generations.

How We’re Achieving This

  • Switching to Energy efficient lighting across all our stores

    • We’re donating 1% of profits on all sales of Persian & Oriental rugs, runners & kelims to help preserve & plant trees and forests in the UK

  • We’re reducing our company vehicles emissions by introducing more fuel efficient and less pollution emitting vehicles.

  • We’ve been working with the Alzheimer’s Society for the past 8 years
