Close-up details from a gorgeous antique Tabriz rug from the North West of Persia, currently on display in Bakhtiyar's London Showroom/Warehouse

Our first close up image depicts a twist on the historic and traditional Tree of Life Design found in a number of rugs from Tabriz and this time era.

Along side the Tree of Life we have a Cyprus tree which is a symbol of eternal life along with a small pond filled with fish swimming, birds bathing and a lovely deer rehydrating from the crystal blue pond water.

Next we will take a closer look at the gorgeous central medallion of this impressive antique Tabriz rug.

It mixes the historic Shah Abassi floral design with flora that mimics the Zell-e Soltan design typically found in Tabriz rugs along and natural wildlife to the region.

At the top and also at the bottom of the central medallion we find these ornate enlarged floral crown motifs, a clever play on the intricate design of the plumed crown of the Qajar King who served at the time that the rug was woven.

It’s mix of colours perfectly blend the darker tones of the medallion with the softer more pastel tones of the rest of the body of the rug.

This antique Tabriz is truly a unique one of piece, from its subject matter to the use of colour, condition and age, if you would like to see more images of this magnificent piece or would like to enquire on the price and seeing it in situ or making an appointment to see it in our London or Hampshire showrooms please email or call us on the details below;
